WHAT IS IT?
It all started with a conversation
between
Stephanie Kuehnert and
Alexa Young, two new voices in young adult
fiction who were looking for a way to celebrate the releases of their debut
novels,
I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone
(MTV Books) and
Frenemies (HarperTeen), respectively.
Because of the prominent role music and books have played in both their
lives, Stephanie and Alexa decided it was time for a literary Lollapalooza
of sorts—a festival in which recording artists and authors would come
together on one stage to perform their songs and read from their books while
raising funds for a good cause. The call to artists and authors went out…the
response was overwhelming…the Virgin Megastore signed on as the premiere
host…the Virgin Unite charities were the designated cause…and
ROCK ‘N’
READ HOLLYWOOD was born.
WHO CAN ATTEND…AND WHO WILL BE THERE?
Everybody is
welcome! ROCK ‘N’ READ is the first festival of its kind, and an opportunity
for people of all ages to see some of their favorite musicians and authors
performing, as well as to discover new favorites. All musicians and authors
will also be available to meet their fans and sign their work. Current
recording artists scheduled to appear include
Lucid Nation,
Noah Stone,
Norfolk,
Dirty Spanglish, and
Moth Eaten.
Current authors include
N.L. Belardes,
Cherry Cheva,
Megan Crane,
Kim Culbertson,
Stephanie Kuehnert,
Alyson Noël,
Rebecca Woolf and
Alexa Young. So don’t hold back. We want
you to join us!
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The event is free. Yes, FREE! However,
there is a suggested optional donation of $10. For each $10 ticket you buy,
you will be entered into a raffle to win fabulous prizes including signed
books, CDs and more. All proceeds, after production costs, will go directly
to
Virgin Unite
charities.

place on Sunday, July 13, from 3:00 to 6:00pm.
